The medical clock resets tomorrow at 7AM, and we are hoping to see improvement in Will’s stoma output by then. 48 hours ago progress was looking good, but it has since slid back. His surgeons promised us a roller coaster and they were right… 2 steps forward, 1 back. As far as intervention goes, they should be able to make adjustments to the site externally, verses having to go in surgically. But we’ll all be praying for a simple uptick in activity, with no additional procedures required!
It’s essentially a mechanical error, with the lining of his small intestine not propelling material thru as it should. The physical handling of the bowel combined with anesthesia causes it to essentially “shut down” temporarily, and everything still needs to learn to work together again.
On the positive news front, we were able to get set up in some family housing thru the hospital that is about a 10 minute walk away. It’s a very large communal home that will allow us to keep Chloe with us and stay close to Will 24/7. So that is definitely a step in the right direction.
